Three Side Hustles We're Thinking About

Updated: Jun 22, 2025

We’ve been tossing around side hustle ideas—something that could bring in extra cash without feeling overwhelming on top of our nine to five. These three keep coming up as options.

1. Reselling Vintage Clothing - Mike and I both enjoy shopping and discovering unique, vintage items. Before COVID, I used to sell on Poshmark and did quite well given the limited time I had. This is probably the most feasible option for us, and although sourcing inventory takes time, it's enjoyable. At least for me, since Mike isn't as into thrifting as I am!

👕 Low startup cost—thrift finds, estate sales, or even our own closet

💰 Profitable resale—high-demand vintage can sell fast on **Depop, Poshmark & eBay**

♻️ Sustainable shopping**—finding hidden gems & giving them new life

2. Writing a Blog - This might seem obvious, but when I began blogging, I had no plans to earn money from it. I simply needed a creative outlet, and so far, it's been wonderful. It's more of a dream and a potential opportunity, and if I continue to enjoy writing, I hope to make it a reality someday.

📝 Creative freedom—express ideas, passions, and expertise

🌎 Passive income—via affiliate links, sponsored posts, and digital products

⌛ Flexible work—write at your own pace, on your own schedule

3. Investing in Real Estate - This might be a bit ambitious! However, once we can save more aggressively, it could lead to new opportunities in real estate.

🏡 Long-term wealth—properties tend to increase in value over time

💵 Rental income—possibility of a consistent monthly cash flow

🔎 Multiple strategies—options include renting, flipping, or short-term Airbnb
