The Simplicity of Love, Hate and Indifference: The Forces That Shape US

Updated: Jun 21

So, I recently had a chat with my therapist about how love, hate, and indifference mess with our brains. It turns out that love and hate come from the same spot and trigger similar reactions in our heads. But indifference? It's totally different from both. She suggested that to keep our mental health in check, we need to reach a state of indifference toward things that set us off. This was a real eye-opener for me, and after the session, I made a list of stuff I need to shift to the indifference zone. It really is that simple!

Let's dive into this topic a bit more.

Love is the force that brings people together; it heals, connects, and pushes us toward something bigger. It sparks movements, soothes wounds, and teaches us patience when things become chaotic. Love is all about creation and making choices. It’s about caring deeply.

Hate, on the other hand, is like a fire. It lights up, consumes, and demands attention. It often comes from pain and can push boundaries, leading to either destruction or transformation. It’s intense and powerful.

And then there's indifference, the quiet fade. It’s not fiery or bright. It’s just... absent. It’s choosing not to engage, leaving a gap where action should be. Indifference lets love to fade away and hate grow. It's easy, it's silent, and sometimes, it's the most dangerous thing of all.

So, which is stronger? The energy of love, the fury of hate, or the vacancy of indifference? The answer lies in what we choose to feed.
